Varuna's evil eye on Pakistan: 223 people die in rain-related disasters!

Peshawar: The monsoon has turned its ugly head on Pakistan, a bitter enemy of India, with 12 people killed in the last 24 hours. With this, the death toll in rain-related incidents has risen to 223, Pakistan's National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said on Tuesday.

Two women, including two men, and eight children died in the last 24 hours, while 10 others were injured in rain-related incidents. The NDMA said that 594 people have been injured so far due to heavy rains this monsoon season.

Punjab has recorded the highest number of deaths at 135 and 470 injured. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province has recorded 56 deaths and 72 injuries. Sindh province has recorded 24 deaths and 40 injuries.

16 people were killed in Balochistan, one in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and six injured. The Disaster Management Authority said most of the deaths were due to house collapse, flooding, landslides, lightning and electrocution.

Since the onset of the monsoon, 804 houses have been razed and 200 livestock have died, and the NDMA has advised people living in flood-affected or low-lying areas to take precautions.
