‘PAN PAN PAN’ … Emergency landing of Indigo flight in Mumbai, 191 learn from pilot understanding

Indigo flight: IndiGo flight 6E 6271 going from Delhi to Goa at Mumbai Airport on Wednesday night had to make an emergency landing due to technical fault in engine. Pilot sent a signal of PAN PAN PAN on the radio, sensing the seriousness of the situation.

A total of 191 people were aboard the Airbus A320NEO aircraft. The aircraft left for Manohar International Airport in Goa from Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. But during the flight, he was diverted to Mumbai when he had a technical problem. It is a matter of relief that all passengers and crew members are safe.

Engine number 1 malfunction during flight

According to Mumbai Airport officials, when the aircraft was flying north of Bhubaneswar at a distance of about 100 nautical miles, then the pilot "Pan pan pan" Announced An officer said on the condition of anonymity, "The pilot declared PAN PAN (an emergency message that is not fatal but necessary) due to malfunction in engine number 1."

Diversion done due to technical fault

The airline said in its response, "On 16 July 2025, a technical problem was found during the flight in flight 6E 6271 going from Delhi to Goa. According to the fixed process, the aircraft was diverted and landed at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai."

Landing in time, all passengers safe

At around 9:32 pm, the flight crew sent a request of Mumbai diversion. Another official said, "According to the protocol, the ambulances and fire tenders were placed on the standby before landing, which went to the aircraft as well as the bay. The flight made a safe landing at 9:53 pm, which was two minutes ahead of the scheduled time."

The airline has informed that now necessary investigation and maintenance of this flight will be done. An alternative aircraft is being arranged to bring passengers to their destination.

Growing cases of technical flaws

Even before this incident, some such cases have been reported. The SpiceJet flight going from Pune to Delhi last Sunday had to cancel the flight due to technical fault before takeoff. The flight left at 9:05 pm with a delay of about 9 hours.

Passengers said that the aircraft suddenly stopped after taxi towards the runway, which created an atmosphere of confusion and anxiety. The passengers were kept in flight for an hour, then they were again boarded in the evening.

Similarly, the Indigo Flight 6E-7295 going from Indore to Raipur last week also returned to Indore due to technical disturbances. The aircraft had 51 passengers.
