Sangamner- Two workers were killed in an unfortunate accident during the underground work of the city. Responding to the unauthorized action of the municipality for the incident, MLA Satyajit Tambe has demanded a compensation of Rs 1 lakh each to the families of the deceased workers. In addition, he aggressively demanded strict action against the administrative officers of the municipality, which led to the accident.
The underground work in Sangamner city was approved in 2021, but the dispute between the sewage treatment center (STP) space remained incomplete. Nevertheless, the municipality decided to unauthorize the gutters, which caused the accident. During the work, Atul Pawar, an employee of the contractor, died of poisonous gas, while Riaz Pathan, a second worker who went to save him, died. MLA Tambe said in the House that if the municipality had not connected the garbage in incomplete work, the question of garbage would not have arisen and the accident would have been avoided.
MLA Tambe criticized the negligence of the municipal administrative officials. He mentioned that there was no need for connecting the gutters to the incomplete work, and the two workers lost their lives. Although the contractor has been prosecuted in this case, no strict action has been taken against the administrative officials. Tambe demanded immediate action against the concerned authorities to curb such negligence.
MLA Tambe demanded a compensation of Rs 2 lakh each to provide immediate financial assistance to the family members of Atul Pawar and Riaz Pathan, who died in the accident. He said that the municipality should pay the money and if it is not possible for the municipality, then the state government should make this provision through the Chief Minister’s funds.
