A Microsoft SQL Server DBA is responsible for overseeing database administration activities, ensuring high availability, performance, and security while guiding a team of DBAs. Here's a structured job description:

Job Title:MSSQL DBA

Key Responsibilities:

Database Administration & Performance Tuning

Oversee installation, configuration, and maintenance of SQL Server databases.
Optimize database performance using indexing, query tuning, and partitioning.
Monitor and troubleshoot database issues, ensuring minimal downtime.

High Availability & Disaster Recovery

Manage Always On Availability Groups, replication, and failover clustering.
Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies using RMANand log shipping.
Ensure compliance with disaster recovery policies.

Security & Compliance

Implement Transparent Data Encryption (TDE)and Always Encryptedfor data protection.
Manage user roles, permissions, and authentication mechanisms.
Conduct security audits and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

Lead and mentor a team of DBAs, providing technical guidance and training.
Collaborate with developers, system administrators, and business stakeholders.
Define best practices and standard operating procedures for database management.

Automation & Monitoring

Develop automation scripts for database maintenance using PowerShelland SQL Agent Jobs.
Utilize SQL Server Profiler, Extended Events, and Query Storefor monitoring.
Implement proactive alerting and monitoring solutions.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Experience:10+ years in SQL Server database administration, with 2+ years in a leadership role.
Technical Expertise:Strong knowledge of SQL Server 2016/2019/2022, SSMS, T-SQL, and performance tuning.
High Availability:Hands-on experience with Always On, failover clustering, and replication.
Security & Compliance:Familiarity with GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI DSScompliance.
Leadership:Proven ability to lead and mentor a team, manage projects, and collaborate across departments.

Patching & Upgrades

Plan and execute SQL Server patching and service pack upgrades with minimal downtime.
Perform pre-patch validation and post-patch testing to ensure system stability.
Automate patch deployment using PowerShell and SQL Agent Jobs.

Preferred Certifications:
