Kranti Gaud delivered a standout performance with the ball, picking up three crucial wickets to derail Pakistan’s chase. Her impactful spell ensured India maintained control throughout the contest. Backed by disciplined bowling and sharp fielding, India sealed a commanding win, once again underlining their superiority over arch-rivals Pakistan in the high-voltage clash. Richa Ghosh spearheaded a vital late surge, scoring a quick 35 as India were eventually bowled out for 247 against Pakistan on a slow pitch in Sunday’s Women’s World Cup clash. India struggled to maintain momentum throughout, with early starts going in vain, including openers Smriti Mandhana (23) and Pratika Rawal (31), who added 48 for the first wicket.
Harmanpreet Kaur’s wicket has further dented India’s hopes, adding to the pressure after early setbacks. Pratika Rawal had already fallen to a peach of a delivery, leaving India on the back foot with both openers gone. Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and chose to field first.
In what is a bigger news and bigger point of attention, the ‘no-handshake’ continues. After the toss none of the captains took the initiatives to exchange pleasantries. The two captains gave their respective interviews and walked away towards their dressing rooms.
This continues from the no-handshake protocol started by the Indian men's team during the recently concluded Asia Cup 2025.
Coming back to the match both the teams have made a change to their playing XI from their last outings. For Pakistan, Sadaf Shamas comes in, she replaces Omaima Sohail. For India, Amanjot Kaur is out due to illness, Renuka Singh Thakur replaces her.
Squads of both teams:
India: Pratika Rawal, Smriti Mandhana, Harleen Deol, Harmanpreet Kaur(c), Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh(w), Sneh Rana, Kranti Gaud, Shree Charani, Renuka Singh Thakur.
